About GNC Community FCU
GNC Community FCU Can Help Bring Your Finances In Balance!
Seventy years ago, a group of progressive employees of the Johnson Bronze Company planted a seed. As the seed grew and developed, many growing pains were experienced. At first the meetings were held in the confines of an office corner within the Johnson Bronze plant, but through hard work and dedication, the credit union progressed. Eventually, the Johnson Bronze Company allotted the credit union office space which enabled them to offer better service to the members, which has led to both the silver and golden milestones.
With less than 900 members and the closing of the Johnson Bronze plant, a serious question arose as to their existence. They rallied the forces and overwhelmingly agreed to continue the operation as a community chartered organization, an application was made and approved, so on March 30, 1936 the “Greater New Castle Community Federal Credit Union” came into existence. At that time, it was necessary to find new quarters. Therefore, on March 18, 1994 the credit union relocated to 201 South Jefferson Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania.
GNC Credit Union is a strong financial institution with assets of $39,000,000, and in many aspects, it exceeds the financial norms of a strong organization. We rank high in many areas among the credit unions within our peers. GNC is a member of the Shenango Valley Chapter of credit unions which incorporates around 25 credit unions in Mercer and Lawrence Counties. GNC has been voted the “Best of the Best” within credit unions in all of New Castle, PA for the last ten years, that truly accounts for something.
The most important product is our loyalty to the credit union members. Mindful of this, we have consistently paid high dividends, kept low loan rates, as well as many other benefits We will remain strong and as far as what the future holds for GNC, “We will survive”. At this time we would like to give thanks to our President, Fred Natale, and the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, Credit Committee and office staff…..thanks for a job well done…
